Geaux 4 Kids, Inc.

Our mission is to ease the emergency transition of displaced children into the protective custody of foster care. Project Geaux Bags helps foster children during the first 24 hours when they are removed from their home, through no fault of their own, usually with only the clothes on their back. A Geaux Bag contains:

 

  • Pajamas
  • Pack of underwear
  • Toiletry kit
  • Age-appropriate comfort items
  • School backpack
  • Pillow
  • Blanket
  • Water
  • Snack
  • Note of encouragement

 

The bags are provided to regional offices of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services for a social worker to deliver with a child to a foster home. The project began in Northwest Louisiana in 2013 and operates in five DCFS regions. We hope to be in all nine regions by 2020 and be sustainable in the entire state by 2021.
